We are a family owned and operated business that follows the Old Path.
Moons & Runes was created to provide a service lacking within our own community. There is no shop in our
midst that is owned by those that walk the old ways, and as such many people that seek help are given false
information. Back in the old days our ancestors would have wise women in their village that people would go
to for herbs, knowledge, stories, and guidance. Those women were nearly extinct or in hiding until the
resurgence over the last several decades. Yes, you will find many 'metaphysical/new age' shops around....but
do they practice what they sell...very rarely. There are too many stories to mention of clients coming to us to
be 'fixed' of the wrong information they were given by other shops. The old ways, metaphysics, and/or the
new term..'new age'...should not be a money grab! The wise women of our ancestors did also collect pay for
their services (chickens, goats, grains, etc.) which isn't much different from now (we use the money we
receive to buy, food for the humans in our home, stock for the shop, food for our pets, etc).
"Why don't you just call yourself a witch or pagan shop?" ~Well unfortunately the area in which we live in
is rather 'unforgiving' with certain names. We thought for a long time what to consider a description of our
store to follow our name. Since working with stones, herbs, candles, tarot, astrology etc. is metaphysics..then
it stands to reason that description is not incorrect. What about 'new age'? Many people are not familiar
with the term 'metaphysics' or 'metaphysical', and although 'new age' can make us sound like patchouli
scented hippies dancing in the park (not that there's anything wrong with that)...it is a term that we like to
think of as not negative, but the resurgence of the 'New Age' of thinking, the 'New Age' of healing, the
'New Age' of 'Old Ways'.
With the need of a proper metaphysical shop being fulfilled in our area, we decided to share this with the
world and offer shipping all over this big blue planet. We have shipped as far as Essex England to Arizona.
We also try our best to get our product right from the source and the majority of our singing bowls and
other Tibetan Buddhist items are ordered directly from Kathmandu Nepal, where the Tibetans in exile hand
make them. Many of our items are also made in Bali to support that economy as well as our incense from
either Nepal or India. Otherwise many of our other items are purchased within Canada or the United States.
Our seed has been planted and we grow like a mighty tree to a great future full of life. Our fantastic clients
help us become stronger and we help them become stronger too.
